Lane Logistics History
Founded in 1997, LS Logistics operated in 1,000 square feet of office and warehouse space in Mississauga, ON.
We identified a need to have our client's products closer to our retail resellers and set out to grow the distribution of our client's Canadian business. We offered our clients the knowledge and relationships of what our retailer resellers needed to satisfy Canadian packaging laws and distribution compliance measures.
As our business grew so did the product categories we distributed. We moved into 6,000 Square feet of office and warehouse space to accommodate our growing needs.
With most goods we received coming by floor-loaded containers, we expanded further to a facility in Stratford, ON. This fulfillment center had multiple loading dock locations to support our continued growth and further product category expansion.
As we continued to grow we moved our office and fulfillment center back to Guelph, ON. This served us well as the business was primarily focused on Lane Sales, which is our sales agency. At the time, this facility was great and very well utilized being fully racked. At this time we were a paper-based operation but that was about to change.
This location became our HQ, with 55,000 square feet of fulfillment and office space. We knew this was large and allowed us room to grow, so over the course of 2 years, we installed racking in phases to fully utilize the cube. During this time we invested in the business to become extremely efficient and expand our fulfillment capabilities.
For the past 2 years, we would sublease space at 945A Southgate Drive during Q4 to help with the natural buying patterns of consumers. We knew we needed more space if we wanted to bring on new customers. This additional location provided us with quite a bit of room to grow… or so we thought.
Having only moved into our second fulfillment center 7 months prior, it almost came as a surprise that we needed additional space so fast. In reflection, we have really prioritized our sales/marketing efforts but COVID-19’s acceleration to buy online was a big factor as well.
We expanded into our 4th fulfillment center in late 2021 and were fully operational in February 2022. This facility added 40,000 sq, feet to our operation and some amazing new customers.
We expanded at our HQ in September of 2023. The addition of this unit puts our main facility at 100,000 facility sq, feet.
